Time with Mommy

School is almost out for Stephen so Bentley and I are enjoying our last days of alone Mommy/Bentley time for the year. He is so excited Stephen will be home and they have the whole summer planned, but I know he will miss his Mommy time when its just us. Steve and I are going to start doing date nights when we each take a child and do something special one on one with them. It goes without saying Stephen is very excited for school to be over. I cant wait to have more time with him, especially doing what he has been talking for days about....going to the pool! Thursday Bentley and I went to Fenton for a photo shoot and to see some friends. He was my little assistant and a very good boy! This is my friend Erins daughter Emily. I cant get over how beautiful she is like her Mommy. I got a few of Bentley, nothing special, except they are because they are him and I cant get over how big he is looking!:(So I just want to journal what he is like right now at four with a few of the photos of my special boy.....
BENTLEY is now.....
1. Very independent. He wants to do everything himself and gets very upset if you try and help because he is a "BIG BOY"
2. He loves legos, "guys" , cars, soft blankets and his pillow pet
3.He has been having bad dreams almost every night like I did growing up and still do:( He dreams about people he loves turning to skeletons, falling out of cars, spiders, and last night he dreampt about falling into a hole and I was too late to save him. Its awful hearing his bad dreams, He wakes up and comes and finds me. I'm glad I'm here for him though and understand how scary dreams can be. We went on a walk tonight before bed and talked about the good things he can dream about. He said Alvin and the chipminks and I said he could dream about living in a castle made of cake.
4. He has a temper and is very stuborn. He yells ITS NOT FAIR a lot. He told me for the first time the other day he didnt want to be my kid anymore because I wouldnt let him watch t.v. in bed:(It was sad but he came out after with a big frown on his face and gave me a big hug and said he was sorry and he still wanted to be my kid...
5. He loves saying prayers and is starting to be very thougtful when praying and really thinks about what he says. He prayers for Stephen at school a lot and for his friends and cousins. He loves primary and knows who Jesus is and knows he is a Child of God. He asks me questions about Heaven and explains to me what Jesus made on our earth for us.
6. He likes books, and is a great counter. He loves drawing and can write a great B...for Bentley! He also loves playing games on the computer and can log onto Lego.com on Steves lap top by himself.

7. He loves his Mommy. He misses me when is gone and I'm enjoying every momment while he still wants to be my shadow. I know it wont last forever. He is very sweet to me and cares about my feelings. If I dont feel good or look sad he asks me about it and gives me LOTS of hugs and kisses. He is my sweetheart.

Mothers day

Mothers day Morning the boys were so sweet. Bentley was more excited than I was. He pranced around the house singing, "Happy Mothers Day, Happy Mothers Day", even with the tooth brush in his mouth. I think that boy just likes a reason to party. Stephen brought me a beautiful card and pot he painted in school (pictures to come) and paper flower he made. I was very surprised because I didn't know he had anything and then Bentley just started sobbing and ran to me with his hands over his face and burrowed into me and whispered "mom, I'm so sorry I don't have anything for you". It broke my heart! I quickly reminded Steve to help Bentley surprise me with the flowers Steve had sweetly brought me home the night before from all of them after the boys had gone to bed. Steve ran out with him and Bentley came back in with a bouquet of flowers and big smile on his face. Later though he explained he really had wanted to buy me earings for mothers day and hadn't been able to. An hour or so later he brought me my favorite pair. I told him thank you so much. He told me he hadn't bought them, they were already mine and looked perplexed, I did whatever I could to cheer him up. He is awfully thoughtful. But I didn't want him to feel so bad! They were very sweet to me all day and told me how pretty I looked for church although they always are good at that. After church we got to spend the day with family, and all the special woman in our lives. I'm so grateful to have amazing mothers and sisters and other woman in my life and most important my two beautiful boys who keep me busy and happy and make me a mom! The best part about who I am!

A Grown Up

A grown up tooth coming in, a grown up tie, a grown up jacket...these are thing to document...not the best shoot:) But Stephen wanted me to snap a couple pictures before he left for church today ( I stayed home with Bentley as previously stated ) He wasn't very excited about wearing a tie but you should have seen his face light up when I let him wear his "spy" jacket. He is now a man. I'm going to attempt to sew ties for easter for my men next week. I don't sew. I would like to. We will see what happens. wish me luck. Girls get new easter dresses, boys, not so much. so ties it is, hopefully cute pictures to come. If they end up being pocket squares don't laugh at me. But this is something I would like to attempt to accomplish:)

Bentley just looked too cute eating soup in my bed surrounded by his little stuffed friends, I had to capture the moment. I know it will be gone in a moment. And the little boy with his still chubby small hands holding on to that spoon still asking his mommy for everything although tiering,I know will be very heart breathtakingly missed on a day too soon.

Anne of Green Gables and Love

So I've been sick the last couple days. I'm not sure with what but I've felt awful and still do not feel 100%. My darling Steve brought me soup and rented me Anne of Green Gables a movie he has yet to watch with me but knows I have loved since I was a little girl and always makes me go to my happy place.I just though it was so nice of him and blog worthy:) I do love Anne and Gilbert. Watching the movie is always like catching up with a very special friend and it being like you were never apart.

Spring Break!

The boys are a little bit sick but I still want Stephen to have a fun spring break. He cant really hang out with friends because he is sick but we can still do some fun stuff. So we went to see Hop today and sat in the front row so we didn't breath on anyone. lol. They liked the movie and then we went to salvation army and got some spring break "photo shoot " clothes for the boys and my neices Emma and Lucy who are coming over tomorrow to play ( they also are under the weather so its ok:) then....we went home and cleaned and organized the boys room..wahoooooooooooo spring break, poor boys..I'm trying:) I love them.

Bentley Turns Four

So Bentley is four! We had a great weekend! He had a birthday party with his bestest friends and he wanted me to make him a teddy bear cake so bad so we had a teddy bear picnic. Everyone brought a bear or other stuffed animal, we had a picnic lunch and just a lot of kids and a small space pretty much:)

We braved the freezing cold to get a good family picture while Josh was home, two days later he anounced he is moving back for a while. Good timing Josh:) But I'm so glad we got this one at Christmas, hopefully next time we wont be freezing and will be able to enjoy a longer shoot:) I love my family we had a great Christmas together and went and saw Narnia III It was so fun and I loved the message at the end. Margaret made all the costumes and planned scripture and hymns to read and sing and we had a beautiful nativity with our beautiful children. It was so sweet and perfect to start our Christmas out as. Bentley said some sweet and funnny things today and I just wanted to put them down so I wouldn't forget. He is so fun he makes everyday ( crazy) but wonderful and bright and new and FUN! This morning we were whispering in each others ears because it tickles him so much he will giggle forever...this is how it went....

It was a simple little whispering conversation but I couldn't help but feel the truthfullness and comfort of these true statements we were whispering in eachothers ear.

Later we were drawing shapes and naming them, I drew a heart and he said in such a little grown up way, " Thats a heart! I don't have one, I am a robot" ( I think he has watched Sonic Boy one too many times) He said it so matter of factly and then pointed to his chest and said, There is just a robot in here" Then we talked about how he had a wonderfull heart and is a "real boy" lol he was too funny. Right now his favorite thing is playing in the bath. He was in there for 2 hours today, I made brownies and let him lick the spoon in the bath, best idea ever, fast clean up and award winning mommy! I love Bentley so much.

Halloween 2010

The boys picked out their costumes all by themselves this year, Stephen wanted to be a skeleton ( thank you Downs) and Bentley found this Alien costume at Childrens Place and fell in love with it. He has already worn it around the house everyday for a month so I was suprised when he was still excited to wear it for trick-or-treating. We actually whent trunk-or -treating saturday evening this year up at our church. They had a lot of fun. Haloween is not my favorite holiday. But its always fun to have a reason to do something extra fun as a family.

It was fun to go to the apple orchard. The boys enjoyed spicers so much this fall and Stephens birthday party was there, so it was a fun family place for us. There are so many good ones but I put up my absolute favorites. I love my family and am so gratefull to have them. I feel so very blessed and hope to make this holdiday season a time of grateitude and service. I feel like I need to give so much, and know I could never give as much as the Lord gives me. Also how lame have I been at blogging, so I'm going to be better, I promise. Especially for family but most important for me. I really need to journal more. So note for today; I'm trying to start coupon shopping so worked on that today, moved my room around, edited and today while Stephen ran down to get something he dropped from the padio Bentley (dont know how accidentall) dropped a good size flower pot of the ledge which hit Stephen 100% square on top of his head. I hear a crash and screaming and knew to run, so I met him on the stiars sobbing and just hugged him and checked his hair for glass. The door was left open and an angel neighbor whome I have never met who happend to be a head trama specialist ( I know...right?) came in and checked on him and told me what to look out for and let me ask some questions, he has a good size bump and scratches but as of now he is fine, playing in the bath with a little headache but I know what to whatch for and so far so good.....sheesh:)

I have been so busy packing to move, on photo shoots, and getting ready for a wedding shower I really needed to get the kids out and do something fun. We went to the beach at Kensington with Jenny Douglas' family and Marie Kipp and hers. It was beautiful. With my boys new found fish skills they spent hours in the lake. I love them so much and hope we take breaks and make many more moments like this and less moments like..."go watch a movie! I'm trying to pack!" ..:( I can't wait to be done....:) Stephen and Bentley, thank you for making it all worth it!

Listening and Learning

Yesterday was fathers Day and we also had the blessing of going to see Elder Bednar speak. It was a wonderful day and I am so thankfull for the Savior and how much he loves us, and for what he teaches us through the word of His Apostles and Prophets. I'm also gratefull for my husband who is wonderfull the way he is, but continues to grow and learn and better himself everyday. He is a wonderfull father and I am so gratefull my boys are safe with a leader like him.

Easter

We had a wonderful Easter,

We colored eggs with the lynches and we were going to do a hunt outside but then had to do one inside because of rain (like the kids cared) Then we had a wonderful easter dinner/lunch with my family. My mom always makes holidays so beautiful and special. Then we finished Easter off with Grandma and Grandpa Douglas (mom and dad). They had an easter egg hunt for the kids outside and a wonderful dinner. I loved the easter pictures I got, especially with the grandparents. I love my family. I also love my Savior and the whole reason for Easter. Thank goodness I can be with my family forever! They have my heart for eternity.

The Zoo

So My mom and Melissa and I took the kids to the Toledo Zoo, I have been wanting to take the kids forever and they had a lot of fun, I didnt so much...come to find out later I had Mano and didnt know it but I'm still glad we went. Bentleys favorite was the sharks and alligators and Stephen just loved everything! I wish I had gotton more pictures, but Like I said wasnt feeling too much like myself. We will have to hit the Detroit Zoo next and go on the train. I know they will LOVE that! I love my boys and doing anything fun with them.

My little boy is 3 and changing and growing everyday.He has a little rebel streek in him and likes to get in trouble, but he is one of my best friends and we have so much fun together. I love watching him learn and show compasion, and dance. He loves to laugh and make others laugh. He can sing his Abc's and his favorite songs are I am a Child of God and Twinkle twinkle little star. Lately he throws blanket, pillows, toys and anything else he can find in piles and makes what he calls "space ships". He loves to say his prayers and is getting better everyday at learning to be reverent when in church or during scripture study which would be hard for any three year old. His favorite foods are chicken nuggets and pennut butter and honey. He also loves apples and bannanas. He still loves Curiouse George, but is really loving Scooby Doo lately. I'm thankfull he loves me and wants to be with me ALL THE TIME:) I know it wont last forever but I hope i can always have a sweet and fun relationship with my Bentley. We wanted to get a family picture before josh left for BYU-I. Who knows after that when we all be together again. Josh is leaving for school. Ben and Aubree are prob moving to a different state for school also, Steve will be applying to Michigan, Michigan State, and BYU after this semester ( Side note I'm so proud of him). Its been 5 days since a dear friend of ours passed and I find myself not able to sleep again, hurting for the loss of a dear friend. I'm usually just post pictures and short captions on my blog, but I think I need to start treating it as more of a journal. Emily is so good at that and I need to learn from her example. Although this is very personal to me I decided to publish a post and do better from now on. ( Not that many people look at my blog anyway):)

I want to fist say to Emily how much I love you and am so sorry for your loss. I wish I had some inspired words, but all I keep thinking is what can I do to take the pain on myself and spare you. You are wonderful and truly have Christ in your countanence, like John. Your family has a permenant place in my heart. Steve and I were talking yesterday about how we must have known you well before we came to earth, we feel so tied to you and love you so deeply. When we first moved to Utah, before I met you I was driving to meet my cousin and passed a car going to other direction, I glanced at the driver for a split second, and thought, " I know him, thats Steves truest friend from his mission, John Jones." Steve and I called him that night and he had recognised me too. I t hought that was amazing that through Steve letters and pictures about someone he cared for so much and looked up to so much, I knew him right away, even though I just saw his face in a car driving by. I knew Steve loved him but I never dreamed of him marrying the most amazing woman and friend. When I was in the hospital for weeks with pregnancy complications. John and Emily were my constants. They were always there for me and uplifted my spirits more than they will ever know. Steve and John gave me blessings, Emily bought a friend and we made cards together, and John and Emily brought food!!! ( The hospital food made me ill) I rememeber I told Emily how yummy the Chicken n' chaladas were and she smiled and informed me she worked all day so John made them:) John and Emily were there when we brought our little 4 pounder home from the hospital which was such a happy moment.

When Emily lost her first baby, I cried for days, she deserved to be a mother so much and I knew she was going to be an amazing one. John is with their first child now and I wish I could be there to see their beyond joyfull reunion as their family forever reunites one day.

I wish I could fluently write words of comfort, but I am just going to bear my testimony and hope that the spirit of peace can come with it.

I am so gratefull for the truth in our lives. I know we have a loving Heavenly Father that knows us and our needs and desires. I know all our losses will be made up to us, if we continue to do what is right and follow in our Saviors footsteps. I'm so thanksfull for the temple and the peace , knowledge, and blessings that come with it. I am so grateful for my Savior, for how much he loves me that he would die and suffer for me and my family and friends so we can all be together again, and live with Heavenly father. I have so much to still work on but I cant wait to embrace him one day, tears of grattitude will be never ending. I know prayer is real and i know that having the scriptures being a constant in your life will help you have power and peace. I'm so gratefull for the companionship of the Holg Ghost, and when I'm promted to help or protect my sweet children. I'm so thankfull Familys are for Eternity.

Steve and I didnt have any money to go to the funeral which made us so sad, but we went to a quiet spot at night on a hill near a lake and wrote loving messages to John on round glass ornaments and and placed them on a tree. We shared memmories of John and said a prayer for Emily, Lizzie, and the baby. We cried, a lot. It was a private moment but I wanted to take a few pictures, for Lizzie to see one day, people all over the world missed her Daddy. We were just two of the many thinking of John and his family that night that couldnt make it to the funeral that day and we had to do something.

John, we mis you and love you and are so thankfull we know the kind of man you are and how you lived your life. We know where we will find you, spreading the message of the gospel and serving and being happy.

Emily, I cant stop thinking of you, everyday, all day. I love you. You are in my prayers and heart always, and I hope to be a part of your life till you return to your sweet John, and even after that. Thinking of you always, all my love,

John Jones had maneuvered his way out of tight spots before he got stuck in Utah County's Nutty Putty cave Tuesday night.
He had explored many caves, including those around St. George, where he was born and raised, his family said in a written statement Thursday.
"John loves the outdoors and, along with his brothers, had a strong sense of adventure," said Dan Hunter, the family's bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, reading from the statement. At his side stood John's father, Leon Jones. He appeared subdued and stricken.
"Thank you for your interest in supporting our family, and especially for your thoughts and prayers in John's predicament he was in," he said.
Jones was home in Stansbury Park for Thanksgiving from Charlottesville, Va., where he was a second-year medical student at the University of Virginia. He planned to become a pediatric cardiologist, and had "a masterful ability to relate to children," Hunter said.
He graduated from Dixie High School in St. George, where he played basketball and was senior class president, said friend Morgan Miles. He met his wife, Emily, at Brigham Young University. They married in 2006 and had a 14-month-old daughter, Elizabeth, who they called Lizzie. The couple recently found out Emily was pregnant, and were expecting a second child next June.
"John was a remarkable person who strived to experience every good thing in life and achieve excellence in every
thing he did," Hunter said. He loved basketball, BYU sports and reading, and was active in his church leadership.
The family thanked the approximately 100 rescue workers from agencies up and down the Wasatch Front who worked to free Jones on Wednesday, especially the search and rescue leaders from Utah County.
"John's last 24-some hours were spent trapped in a dark, tight crevice deep within the Nutty Putty Cave," Hunter said. "We know he fought with all he had to persevere and not lose hope."
Jones also leaves behind his parents, four brothers, two sisters and 16 nieces and nephews.
"We'll never fully understand how or why it was John's time to leave us," Hunter said. "But we find comfort in knowing that he fulfilled his purpose here on Earth, and that we will be reunited with him again."

A memorial service for John Jones will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the LDS Church Stansbury Park Stake Center, 417 East Benson Road in Stansbury Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to the Emily Jones Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo Bank or Universal Campus Credit Union.

Stephen is 5! Today he got to take some friends to the 3D movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. They had a blast and laughed a lot. Thursday was his actuall birthday and Mimi made his favorite dinner and a cake....he also got his dream gifts, i couldnt put them all on but thank you to everyone.

A Day at the Park

Summer is coming to an end. Stephen is about to start school, so I thought we should be having as much fun as we can. We went to the playground at Stephens new school and they had a blast!

Yesterday was my birthday and so many family and friends helped make it so special. Thank you! I had a great morning with my kids, afternoon, with my mom and sister, evening by my self( which was nice, I'm not going to lie:) and night with my husband! Steves first day of his semester was yesterday so he had three classes. He has a full semester so he is one busy man! So he had a full day of school and still had time to have some fun with me!

My children are my life. I adore and love them. So why do we loose our patience and want to pull our hair out sometimes??? This morning started out rocky. Steve and I didnt sleep very well, the kids woke very early, and then the fighting began before the sun was even up. So brain storm Lara... be calm and patient when speaking to them, do our scripture study together, have activities to keep them busy, and hmmmm...I'll get back to you on how the afternoon goes....wish me luck!:)

My Grandmothers Wedding Ring

So I have had my grandmothers wedding ring for a while and wanted to eventually get a stone in it( she lost it a very long time ago) and re-do it to be my wedding ring. It's beautiful and we finally did it. I made her this and framed it for her to let her know how special it was to me. This pictures does not do it justice. I love it! I origanlly did saphires on the side, but decided I wanted to do it just like it was origanally and the blue made it look less wedding ringesk:)

I'm so proud of Lexi. She is such a special girl and already knows what is right and does it. She is so sweet and loves her family and friends very much. I am blessed to have such a special girl in my life! Her baptism was beautiful! She was dressed in white and looked like the most beautiful angel. My favorite part was when her and her dad sang "I like to look for rainbows" and when she recieved the gift of the Holy Ghost as all the rightouse men in her life stood around her. I love you so much Lexi! Keep following your Savior and you will always find peace. I know he knows who you are and loves you and will always be there for you. Remember to talk to him everyday! Party Weekend

This weekend we had a great family break. After my surgery monday we had just been laying low but it was nice to spend time saturday together just having fun. First was Brendens birthday party friday which Stephen had a blast at then saturday we went to Emmas birthday party and had so much fun. Although I stayed up all night to make the cake it was worth it! It was so fun to do a girly cake for someone so special...I'm not a baker for sure but it actually turned out pretty good. Then after that was joey and Lexies birthday party. We were there pretty much all day and night and the kids couldnt have had more fun! There was a water slide and bounce house so of course my kids were in heaven. I didnt get very many pics, just a few, but it was a wonderful day together! Stephen kept introducing himself as Stephen "Spy" Douglas and Bentley emjoyed running free and having no boundries, we played wiffle ball which I prob shouldnt have done with healing but it was sooo fun. We love our family and I am so thankful for my husband and boys!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm making my neice, Emmas birthday cake this weekend and she wants her picture on it so I went over there to snap a couple today to put non her cake. She is 4 and so smart and beautiful I had to post her pictures. I didnt get very many but enough for the cake and to have some special birthday memmories. We need to do a real photo shoot soon! I love these because she got to choose her outfit and I think she looks like a princess and its all about her. I love you Emma! Happy Birthday! See you saturday!

I'm so excited, my first baby shoot that is not my kids! Her name is Zoie and she is beautiful! Sammie you're awesome and I am so happy for you. I was nervous because out dorr pictures seem to be my favorate and I was nervouse to do indoor pictures with out real equipment, but she is a beautiful baby and I had a lot of fun!

We had a fun day! We had a BBQ with our friends Mellissa, Alan, Ben, and Cindy and our kids. We let the kids stay up extra late and watched fire works and ate pop rocks! With Steve working and going to school it was fun to have a day to be together as a family. We aslo are very gratefull for this free and beautiful country we love in!

I can't sleep, its partly the pain, partly too much going on in my head with wedding shower plans and surgery coming up! So I made a digi scrap book page with the pictures I just posted. Sweet and simple...dang I wish I could do this all day long and get paid for it!:)

We went out to Steves parents house like we do every sunday to enjoy their beautiful home and relax and eat dinner as a family. I had fun taking some quick pics of the boys! They are so sweet and make me laugh every five minutes. I love them so much, life would be empty without them!
